Hi, I'm Caroline Strunk. In this space I am happy to introduce myself as a creative soul with a love for photography, digital art, graphic design, and visual storytelling.
Some of you may know me as a therapist, which is the professional hat I wear most often. I really believe I have the best job in the world, but because so much of counseling is intangible, I find it incredibly rewarding to have an outlet where I can create something that has a beginning, a middle, and an end.
In some ways, the work I share here represents the creative counterpart to what I do as a therapist. I appreciate the beauty in all things, strive to explore and convey different points of view, honor who and where people are in the present moment, and encourage individuals to express themselves with authenticity.
With these intentions in mind, here I am.
I live in Northern Virginia (a place I have called home my entire life) with my husband and our three children. Being a mom is the most beautiful and terrifying privilege I have ever known, and there are no words that could explain how grateful I am for the little humans who amaze me and challenge me every day.
My husband and I share an unabashedly nerdy love for old school video games, sci-fi, and fantasy, which you may see in the photography projects I have gently nudged him into joining.
I have a love-hate relationship with long distance running. The tennis court is my happy place. Archery, which inspired the name of my counseling practice, will always have a special place in my heart.
Finally, the name of this studio signifies two things. First, that I have a weakness for terrible puns - and second, that a driving belief in my life (and work) is that love, whether it is felt in the form of
romance and soulmates and passion;
loud, joyful moments among friends;
the quiet intimacy of seeing and being seen;
parental love that is fierce and overwhelming;
the healing bonds and belonging in found family;
the grief we feel in its absence or loss;
the empathy and grace we extend to others;
or an unyielding posture of self-compassion;
is the most powerful force in the human experience.
